The World Ocean Headquarters will achieve its mission by:
- Developing concrete solutions to defined ocean problems by bringing the right stakeholders together and linking their work to the UN’s agenda for conserving and sustainably using the ocean.
- Being an innovation lighthouse that forges links between industry, innovators, entrepreneurs and investors to bring new technology to the market and facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Championing best evidence-based practice among policymakers, practitioners, scientists and innovators.
- Convening stakeholders from ecosystems around the world for collaboration and learning.
- Organising events to spread awareness, build knowledge and networks, and catalyse action.
- Cultivating a global community of networks, organisations and talented individuals working on ocean sustainability.
- Facilitating access to data for research, innovation and policy-making purposes.
- Providing infrastructure for innovators, educators and scientists, including laboratories, technology showrooms and auditoriums.
- Promoting ocean literacy efforts from education material resources to exhibitions, documentaries and hackathons.
- Inspiring a new generation of ocean leaders by creating awareness and providing youth with opportunities to learn, connect and take action for a healthy ocean.
