Turning Evidence
into Ocean Outcomes

REV Ocean was built to change ocean outcome through evidence, access and action.

Impact isn’t about how far we travel or how deep we dive. It’s about what changes because we were there. It’s about science reaching the decisions that shape policy. About understanding leading to protection and restoration – making a real difference.

Everything we do serves One Healthy Ocean.

The Challenge

We are ocean-born but ocean-blind.

Less than 10% of the ocean has been explored. Less than 1% of global philanthropy supports ocean health.

The pressures are intensifying - climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution. But the deeper problem is structural.

Science is underfunded. Access is limited. Policy often moves without proximity to evidence.

The distance between what we know and what we do remains too great.

Our Approach

REV Ocean was built to close that gap.

By bringing scientists, policymakers and innovators together at sea, we generate decision-relevant science and ensure evidence informs protection as it is being shaped.

Private capital turned into shared access – widening collaboration and enabling outcomes.

Science Impact Objective

Science that turns evidence into protection.

Marine Protected Areas

We generate the scientific baselines needed to design, expand and monitor Marine Protected Areas - including areas beyond national jurisdiction.

Protection works when science and policy move together.

Ocean outcomes: stronger ecosystems. Safeguarded biodiversity. Greater resilience.

Marine Plastic Pollution

We generate the scientific baselines needed. We advance understanding of plastic systems - generating the evidence needed to inform scalable action.

  • Restoration depends on clarity.
  • Clarity depends on access.

Ocean outcomes: reduced pollution, informed regulation, measurable recovery.

Ocean Literacy Impact Objective

Turning learning into leadership for the ocean.

Ocean Literacy & Agency

The ocean needs champions as much as it needs science.

  • We train early-career scientists through real missions.
  • We convene policymakers onboard - bringing them face to face with the ecosystems they help govern.

Ocean outcomes improve when understanding leads to responsibility - and responsibility leads to action.

Early Impact

REV Ocean is still early in its journey – but the model is already delivering:

  • New species documented.
  • Deep-sea ecosystems identified.
  • Mapping contributions to global initiatives.
  • Policy workshops convened onboard.
  • Open data integrated via HUB Ocean.

Impact grows as access grows.

Committed to Global Ocean Goals

Our work supports international efforts to protect and restore ocean systems, including:

Everything we build serves that ambition.
