REV Ocean's contribution to the UN Decade

  • This is a critically important decade to reverse the negative impacts on the ocean. Supporting the UN Decade of Ocean Science is essential, to gain the knowledge needed, ensure global scientific collaboration and develop solutions for one healthy ocean.
  • We need to improve our understanding of the ocean, get key stakeholders – decision-makers, researchers, business and civil society – aligned with that understanding and turn the knowledge into concrete solutions.
  • REV Ocean is supporting the UN Decade with state-of-the-art research equipment, personnel, and will provide our new research vessel, ROV and submersible for important research planned in several decade-endorsed projects. This includes giving access and training for scientists from developing countries and early career professionals.
  • REV Ocean is working with the Ocean Decade Alliance to be an effective platform for science-based solutions and to encourage financial contributions from the private sector towards Ocean Decade activities.
  • REV Ocean also provides direct unrestricted funding to the IOC Secretariat to implement the UN Decade for Ocean Science and we encourage others to do the same.
